Maybe it’s not depression?

Maybe it’s your system telling you ‘I just can’t do it anymore’.

And coincidently, this is often a thought that coincides with depression. I’ve worked with many people and I myself have felt the pit of depression enough to understand depression is a state, not a way of being. It’s about understanding that the mind isn’t the ‘problem’ here, it’s the body, the nervous system, and the spirit and it’s the mind that tries to understand it and calls it depression.

What is depression? It’s when you feel sad, hopeless, unmotivated, numb, disconnected. And what is it to be sad, hopeless, unmotivated, numb and disconnected, it’s to be depressed. It’s an endless loop with no answer.

Why does depression show up, how does it actually begin? Think of the word DEPRESSion, it’s the notion that we suppress, depress, shove down, bury emotions or experiences. And when we depress our emotions for a long time, the body starts getting tired of holding and the spirit starts feeling weak by an energy that is heavy like depression.

What’s actually happening is that the body has decided it can longer keep running the way it is and so it forces a shut down. This shut down is debilitating for most and it’s when the symptoms of depression surface. But underneath the surface, is a tired, hurt, unseen part of you that is saying ‘I need you to just stop’.
